Blackberry-Whiskey-Smash-with-Wheat-BeerHeyo. Happy Friday, friends!

I’m very terrified excited about this weekend, as my roommate and I are taking a little road trip to visit my brother at UPenn. Elliot has been radio silent on his plans for us, but I imagine they involve lots of general frattiness followed by multiple cheesesteaks. Logan has been breathing heavily for like four days in anticipation.

What are you doing?

Whatever it is (i.e. marathoning House of Cards), you will need a solid cocktail in hand, yes? Cool. Let’s discuss whiskey and beer. Together. With some muddled blackberries, lemon and fresh mint! I know that combo may seem slightly strange to some of you, but I need you to trust me on this one. (Have I ever misguided you on the booze front???) A Black-beery Whiskey Smash is refreshing and subtly sweet, and the splash of wheat beer lends an awesome caramel complexity and epic fizz. I think you’re gonna dig it.

Not sold? Perhaps watching me make it in a Sugar Plum Fairy Costume will convince you. And with that, I shamelessly present the magical final installment of Cocktails and Confessions

p.s. I will most likely be re-living my keg standing glory days this weekend. Philadelphia residents beware.

p.p.s. If you’re on board with the recent video side of Domesticate ME!, please consider subscribing to my fancy YouTube channel. A new series will hopefully be coming your way in the not-so-distant future…

Party on, dudes.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup fresh blackberries
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 6 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoons raw sugar
  • 2 ounces bourbon whiskey
  • 2 ounces wheat beer

For garnish: (optional)

  • Blackberries
  • Mint sprig

Instructions

  • Muddle fresh blackberries, lemon juice, mint leaves and sugar in a highball glass. Stir in the whiskey. Add ice (crushed if possible) and top with wheat beer.
  • If you’re feeling fancy, cut a wooden skewer so that it’s slightly taller than your glass. Thread 4-5 blackberries onto the skewer and add it to your cocktail along with a sprig of fresh mint.

Served this up when I had friends over and everyone loved making their own. For me, I made it with Monkey Shoulder and it was delicious!

You did the walk of shame in a child’s sugar plum fairy costume. I just don’t know that any story could ever top that.

Wait, what?! This is the *final* installment of Cocktails and Confessions?! I was starting to get hooked on these!
